Lalji Foundation’s Mnazi Mmoja Health Camp: A Milestone in Community Care

In August 2024, the LALJI FOUNDATION made a big difference by setting up a three-day medical health camp at Mnazi Mmoja Grounds in Dar es Salaam. With a donation of 5,000,000 TZS, the Foundation teamed up with various healthcare partners—including Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri Charitable Eye Centre, National Blood Transfusion Services, Ocean Road Cancer Institute, TIBA Healthcare Ltd, and Ebrahim Haji Charitable Health Centre, among others—to bring much-needed medical services to people who need them most.

Key achievements of the Medical Camp:

  • 5,818 patients received eye screenings, with 298 surgical cases, including cataract surgeries.
  • Distributed 2,469 reading glasses and 2,945 eye drops to improve eye health.
  • Conducted 1,382 cancer screenings (breast, cervical, and prostate), identifying 29 high-risk cases.
  • Facilitated 2,102 medical screenings and counseling sessions, along with 281 blood donations.
  • Educated 5,000+ individuals on mental health and raised awareness about communicable and non-communicable diseases.

The LALJI FOUNDATION remains committed to expanding healthcare access and is actively pursuing more partnerships to continue addressing Tanzania’s healthcare needs and supporting underserved communities.
