The LALJI FOUNDATION, in collaboration with Ashuraa Human Charity Tanzania, launched a transformative community development project to provide safe and sustainable clean water access in Busondo Village, Nzega District, Tabora Region. The project, carried out from June 14 to July 20, 2025, culminated in the construction and handover of a shallow well that now serves over 300 residents with clean, safe drinking water.
Before this initiative, villagers relied on unsafe and distant water sources, contributing to frequent waterborne diseases and placing a heavy burden on women and children responsible for fetching water.
The well was officially handed over on July 20, 2025, in Nzega, Tabora, marking a major step toward improving health, dignity, and economic opportunities for the community.
Objectives of the Shallow Well Project:
- To provide clean and safe water to the community.
- To reduce the distance and time spent collecting water, especially for women and children.
- To minimize cases of waterborne diseases.
- To establish a community-led water management structure for long-term sustainability.
