On 22nd January 2026, LALJI FOUNDATION donated 100 school desks to four primary schools in Uvinza District, Kigoma Region, improving the learning environment for over 300 pupils. The beneficiary schools, which are: Kachilingulo, Lulengelule, Nyambutwe, and Uvinza Primary Schools, had long faced desk shortages, forcing many pupils to sit on the floor during lessons.
Objectives of the project:
- Ensuring equal access to quality education by providing adequate school desks.
- Reducing overcrowding and improving seating arrangements in public schools.
- Enhancing student concentration, discipline, and academic performance.
- Improving health, safety, and dignity by eliminating floor seating.
- Strengthening collaboration with local authorities and school leadership.
- Encouraging community ownership in maintaining school infrastructure.
Speaking during the handover, Makbul Jaffer, representative of LALJI FOUNDATION, emphasized that education remains central to breaking the cycle of poverty, noting that even something as simple as school desks can significantly impact a child’s learning experience. Salvatory Motto, Chairman of the Uvinza District Council, expressed gratitude on behalf of the community, stating that the donation restores dignity to learning and motivates both pupils and teachers.
