Safe Water Access : New Source of Life in Magomeni Village

On 27th January 2026, LALJI FOUNDATION handed over a shallow well at Muungano Primary School in Magomeni Village, Kilosa District, Morogoro. The initiative aimed to improve access to clean and safe water for pupils, teachers, and the surrounding community, addressing long-standing challenges related to hygiene, sanitation, and waterborne illnesses.

Objectives of the project:

  • Provide access to reliable safe water for the school and surrounding households.
  • Reduce waterborne diseases such as diarrhea, cholera, and typhoid.
  • Minimize the physical and time burden of collecting water, particularly on women and children.
  • Improve hygiene and sanitation practices within the school and community.
  • Strengthen community participation and ownership in water management and maintenance.
  • Support socio-economic development by enabling households to dedicate more time to productive and educational activities.

Speaking during the handover, Mr. Khamis Yahya of LALJI FOUNDATION reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to partnering with communities and local authorities to implement sustainable development projects in water, health, and education. Mr. Erick Yusufu, Headmaster of Muungano Primary School, expressed gratitude for the Foundation’s support, noting that the project has brought lasting improvements to the school and village.

The project benefited 1,000 community members and received media coverage through IBN TV, as well as updates on Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp groups.
