Providing a Better Future for People Living with Limb Loss Through Prosthetic Support

Lalji foundation with prosthetic limbs beneficiaries at CCBRT

LALJI FOUNDATION, in collaboration with Baraka Foundation Canada and CCBRT Hospital, donated prosthetic limbs to people living with limb loss at CCBRT Hospital in Dar es Salaam. The initiative aimed to help vulnerable children and adults regain mobility, independence, and confidence.

Objectives of the project:

  • Providing prosthetic limbs to children and adults living with limb loss.
  • Supporting vulnerable individuals who cannot afford prosthetic devices.
  • Providing professional assessment, fitting, rehabilitation, and follow-up care.
  • Enabling beneficiaries to participate more actively in education, employment, and community life.
  • Restoring dignity, confidence, and independence among people living with disabilities.
  • Strengthening partnerships that support inclusive healthcare services.

Speaking during the event, Brenda Msangi, Chief Executive Officer of CCBRT Hospital, expressed appreciation to LALJI FOUNDATION and Baraka Foundation Canada for supporting people living with disabilities. She noted that the donation provides more than medical assistance. It also restores hope, dignity, and independence. Meanwhile, Judith Kahatano, Project Coordinator at LALJI FOUNDATION, reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to supporting vulnerable communities. She emphasized that the initiative would help beneficiaries regain mobility and participate more actively in their families and communities.

The project benefited 17 people through the provision of prosthetic limbs, professional fitting, rehabilitation, and follow-up care. As a result, beneficiaries gained greater opportunities to move independently, return to school, work, and participate in community life. The initiative also highlighted the importance of partnerships in expanding access to inclusive healthcare and improving the lives of people living with disabilities.
