On 5th July 2026, LALJI FOUNDATION handed over the Mamoyo Shallow Well Project in Mamoyo Village, Kilosa District, Morogoro Region. The project was made possible through the generous support of Alnashir Jiwa & Family from Vancouver, Canada, and Dubai (UAE). The initiative aimed to improve access to clean and safe water for the community, particularly for women and children who previously travelled long distances to collect water from unsafe sources.
Objectives of the project:
- Provide clean and safe water for daily household use.
- Reduce the distance and time spent collecting water.
- Improve health and sanitation by reducing waterborne diseases.
- Enhance community wellbeing through reliable access to clean and safe water.
Speaking during the handover, Hamisi Yahya, Representative of LALJI FOUNDATION, reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to working with partners to improve access to essential services in underserved communities. He emphasized that clean and safe water is fundamental to both health and development. Furthermore, he encouraged residents to protect and maintain the shallow well so it can continue serving future generations. Meanwhile, Hidaya Mussa Mnemo, Village Chairman, thanked LALJI FOUNDATION for its continued investment in clean water, education, health, and community development, noting that these initiatives continue to bring lasting change to vulnerable communities across Tanzania.
The project directly benefited 500 community members by providing reliable access to clean and safe water.
