On 27th December 2025, LALJI FOUNDATION handed over a shallow well to Mambegwa Village, Kilosa District, Morogoro Region, providing reliable access to safe and clean water for the community. The project responds to long-standing challenges faced by residents who have historically relied on unsafe and distant water sources.
With the completion of the shallow well, over 8,800 residents now have improved access to clean water within their village. This has significantly reduced the time and physical burden of fetching water, while contributing to better hygiene, health, and overall quality of life.
Objectives of the project:
- Providing a reliable and safe source of clean water for households in Mambegwa Village.
- Reducing the time and physical effort spent by women and children fetching water.
- Improving public health by minimizing waterborne diseases and promoting hygiene.
- Encouraging community participation in the management and sustainability of the water source.
- Supporting livelihoods through clean water availability for domestic use and small-scale farming.
During the handover, Mr. Khamis Yahya, representative of LALJI FOUNDATION, reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to partnering with communities and government to support development initiatives in areas of greatest need. Mr. Balele John, Chairman of Mambegwa Village, expressed sincere appreciation, noting that LALJI FOUNDATION’s continued support in clean water, health, and education has brought meaningful and lasting change to rural communities.
The initiative was covered by IBN TV and shared across social media platforms, helping raise awareness of the importance of community-driven water solutions in rural Tanzania.
