On 28th November 2025, LALJI FOUNDATION handed over a shallow well to Dumila Juu Village in Kilosa District, Morogoro Region, providing reliable access to clean safe water for the local community. The project addresses long-standing water challenges in the area, where residents have faced seasonal shortages and long walks to unsafe water sources.
With the completion of the shallow well, over 6,000 residents now have access to clean water within a shorter and safer distance. The initiative has significantly eased the daily burden on women and children, improved hygiene, and contributed to better health and dignity across the village.
Objectives of the project:
- Providing a reliable and safe source of clean water for households and community institutions.
- Reducing the time and physical burden of fetching water, especially for women and children.
- Improving community health by reducing the risk of waterborne diseases.
- Promoting sustainable water management through community ownership and maintenance.
Speaking during the handover, Ms. Judith Kahatano, Projects Coordinator at LALJI FOUNDATION, noted that the shallow well reflects the Foundation’s commitment to improving access to clean water in rural communities while easing everyday hardships. Mr. Rest Munis, Chairman of Dumila Juu Village, expressed sincere appreciation, highlighting the positive impact the well will have on health, safety, and daily life.
The project received media coverage from IBN TV and was shared across social media platforms, helping raise awareness about the importance of sustainable water solutions in rural Tanzania.
