The LALJI FOUNDATION, in partnership with Supa Foam Mattresses and Majey Foundation, successfully organized a free community eye camp in Karagwe District, Bukoba Region, bringing vital eye care services to hundreds of underserved residents. With over TSh 30,550,000 spent, the initiative provided screenings, surgeries, and eyeglasses to those in need.
The event, held from May 30 to June 2, 2025, targeted elderly, low-income, and rural residents, and was officially opened by Karagwe District Commissioner Mr. Julius Laizer, with support from Minister of Home Affairs Hon. Innocent L. Bashungwa, who is also the local MP.
Objectives of the Karagwe Eye Camp:
- To offer free screening and treatment for common eye conditions.
- To refer patients in need of surgery or advanced treatment to regional hospitals.
- To educate communities on eye health and hygiene.
