Hope Returns to Kasulu Classrooms with New School Desks

Lalji foundation leader and Kasulu students with new wooden school desks

In a remarkable gesture, the LALJI FOUNDATION donated 100 school desks to three schools in Kasulu District. As part of its commitment to education, the initiative targets improved learning conditions across Tanzania. Beneficiary schools for this project include Chekenya, Katoto, and Nyakasanda Primary Schools, all located in Kigoma Region.

Valued at over TSh 8.9 million, the initiative seeks to improve classroom learning conditions. It also addresses the persistent shortage of desks in schools across the district. Previously, many pupils in Kasulu had no choice but to sit on the floor. And such conditions often affected their focus, participation, and overall learning experience in class.

Objectives of the project:

  • Providing durable and comfortable desks for pupils.
  • Promoting attention, participation, and better academic performance.
  • Improving student attendance by offering a more comfortable learning experience.
  • Contributing to long-term improvements in school infrastructure.

District Councillor, Isack Mwakisu, expressed appreciation on behalf of the community. He acknowledged the Foundation’s support in improving the quality of education in the region. The Headmaster of Chekenya Primary School, Benjamin Mwapule, also shared his gratitude, noting that the school desks will transform classroom learning experiences for both teachers and pupils.
