On 30th May 2026, LALJI FOUNDATION handed over the Changarawe Shallow Well Project in Kilosa District, Morogoro Region. The project was implemented to improve access to clean and safe water for the community. As a result, families no longer have to depend on distant or unsafe water sources for their daily needs.
Objectives of the project:
- Providing reliable access to clean and safe water for households in Changarawe Village.
- Reducing waterborne diseases by supplying a dependable source of safe drinking water.
- Reducing the time and distance spent fetching water, especially for women and children.
- Improving community health, hygiene, and sanitation.
- Supporting children’s education by reducing time spent collecting water.
- Strengthening livelihoods through reliable access to water for everyday activities.
- Promoting sustainable community development by addressing a critical local need.
- Building community resilience against seasonal water shortages.
Speaking during the handover, Khamis Yahya, representative of LALJI FOUNDATION, reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to supporting underserved communities through sustainable development initiatives. Meanwhile, Nicholaus Mkoma, Chairman of Changarawe Village, thanked LALJI FOUNDATION for its continued investment in community development. He noted that the Foundation’s work in clean water, education, healthcare, and community empowerment has brought meaningful and lasting change to many villages across the country. The project directly benefited 1,000 community members.
