Shallow Well Changes Life at Kimamba B Village for the Better

LALJI FOUNDATION supported the construction of a shallow well in Kimamba B Village, Kilosa District, Morogoro Region, improving access to clean and safe water for the local community. For many years, residents relied on distant rivers and seasonal water sources that were often unsafe for domestic use.

The new shallow well now provides a reliable and convenient water source within the village, benefiting approximately 2,800 residents. This project reflects the Foundation’s continued commitment to supporting sustainable development initiatives that address the essential needs of rural communities.

Objectives of the project:

  • Providing a reliable and safe source of water for the residents of Kimamba B Village.
  • Helping reduce waterborne diseases by improving access to cleaner water.
  • Minimizing the time and physical burden on women and children who fetch water.
  • Supporting daily household activities and small-scale agriculture through improved water availability.
  • Encouraging community participation in maintaining and protecting the shallow well.

Speaking on behalf of the community, Bakari Issa, Chairman of Kimamba B Village, expressed appreciation for the project, noting that the shallow well will help reduce the burden of water collection while improving sanitation and health conditions for families in the village.

Mr. Khamis Yahya, representing LALJI FOUNDATION, reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to partnering with communities and local authorities to support development initiatives in areas with the greatest need, particularly in water, health, and education.

This shallow well has been dedicated in memory of Marhum Asif Haiderali Mussa Jaffer, honoring his legacy through a project that will continue to serve the community for years to come.

The project handover was also highlighted through IBN TV coverage and shared on social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp groups, helping raise awareness about the importance of sustainable water access solutions in rural Tanzania.
