LALJI FOUNDATION partnered with CCWWT in Kigoma to empower widowed women through a sustainable beekeeping initiative. Through the donation of 50 beehives and modern beekeeping training, the project provided widowed women with income-generating opportunities. The long-term goal being strengthening their financial stability and self-reliance. The project was ended over on 2nd May 2026, and it is set to benefit more than 100 women widowed women in Kigoma.
Objectives of the project:
- Empowering widowed women economically through income-generating activities.
- Providing vocational skills training that promote self-reliance among widowed women.
- Supporting sustainable livelihood initiatives for widowed women, such as beekeeping and small business development.
- Promoting awareness of widowed women rights, dignity, and social inclusion within communities.
- Strengthening partnerships that support women empowerment and community development initiatives.
Speaking during the event, Fatema Imtiaz Lalji, Secretary of LALJI FOUNDATION, emphasized the importance of empowering widowed women. She noted that financially stable women build stronger families and communities. She added that the beekeeping initiative aims to create long-term positive change and improve livelihoods.
Meanwhile, Rabia Ally Moyo, Chairman of CCWWT, expressed gratitude for the partnership and support provided through the initiative. She stated that the project would help widowed women become more self-reliant while improving the wellbeing of their families. Furthermore, she highlighted the importance of continued collaboration in empowering vulnerable women across Tanzania.
