LALJI FOUNDATION donated 100 school desks to Mdimni Primary School in Mkuranga District and Tomoni Primary School in Kibiti District, Pwani Region. The initiative aimed to address the shortage of classroom furniture and provide pupils with a safe, comfortable, and conducive learning environment.
Objectives of the project:
- Providing adequate and comfortable desks to pupils in Mdimni and Tomoni Primary Schools.
- Reducing the shortage of classroom furniture and minimizing the need for pupils to share desks or sit on the floor.
- Creating a safe, organized, and conducive environment for teaching and learning.
- Improving pupils’ comfort, concentration, participation, and motivation during lessons.
- Supporting teachers in delivering effective lessons through better classroom organization.
- Promoting equal access to quality education and strengthening partnerships with local communities and government institutions.
Speaking during the event, Diba Kisuguru, Ward Councillor, expressed appreciation to LALJI FOUNDATION for its generous donation, noting that the contribution had come at the right time as both schools were experiencing a shortage of desks due to increasing pupil enrolment. Ally Seif Mwijio, Headmaster of Mdimni Primary School, described the donation as timely and impactful, explaining that the shortage of desks had affected pupils’ comfort and concentration during lessons. Meanwhile, Rashid M. Ausi, Headmaster of Tomoni Primary School, expressed gratitude to the Foundation, describing the support as a valuable investment in the education and future of the pupils.
Mr. Imtiaz Lalji, Chairman of LALJI FOUNDATION, reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to supporting education as an important pillar of sustainable community development. He emphasized that every child deserves a safe, comfortable, and conducive learning environment and that no child should be disadvantaged because of a lack of basic classroom furniture.
The project benefited 300 pupils through the provision of 100 school desks, with 63 desks allocated to Mdimni Primary School, benefiting 189 pupils, and 37 desks allocated to Tomoni Primary School, benefiting 111 pupils. The donation improved classroom organization, provided more comfortable seating, and created better conditions for pupils to concentrate and participate in lessons. The initiative also contributed to the Foundation’s broader commitment to improving educational opportunities and supporting the development of public schools and communities across Tanzania.
